Biyun sports park is for the whole family
Finding dog-friendly parks in Shanghai is like finding a needle in a haystack. They exist, but there are far more parks that do not allow dogs. Unfortunately, many of the parks that do allow dogs are deep in Pudong, like Haiwan forest park, and take over an hour to get to.
Good news, Biyun sports park (碧云休闲体育公园) is completely dog friendly.
Admission: Free
Location: on the corner of Hong Feng lu and Lan Tian lu, Jinqiao, Pudong
This park is fairly large, and dogs are allowed throughout the entire park. There are basketball courts, walking paths, toilets, and 2 big fields. The field in the middle of the park is for kids, but the field at the edge of the park is more for dogs.
Hugo and I frequent this park often. There are usually around 10-15 dogs all running around off-leash together. In the summer you see will see people set up with picnic blankets or sun tents posted up while their dogs play.
There are all types of dogs from small poodles, labradors and the occasional great dane.
The park even has free poop bags and a special section in the garbage cans for dog poop.
The park is not fenced in, it is surrounded by trees and bushes but if your dog is a runner this may not be the best place to take your dog off-leash.
Within a 5 minute walk of the dog field by Lan Tian and Hong Feng intersection there are many dog-friendly restaurants.
Flying fox
Super dog friendly, they have a great outdoor seating area and will even bring your dog a water bowl. They have their own dog named Cherry that just hangs out at the restaurant.
Big Bamboo
They have a dog-friendly outdoor seating area. Dogs are only allowed outside.
Pistoleras
Pistoleras has a large deck area where you grab a bite and a drink with your pup. Only the outside area is dog friendly at this location.
