Upon arrival, you’ll find a small parking lot conveniently available free of charge. From here, a short and pleasant 5-minute walk will lead you to Thrilling Waterfall. The area is well-maintained and exudes a sense of cleanliness and serenity. However, do note that swimming is not permitted due to the presence of wooden fences.
Between the parking lot and the waterfall, you’ll discover several trails that wind their way through the surrounding landscape. These trails offer a peaceful escape and provide an ideal environment for your dogs to stretch their legs and explore. The bamboo forest, in particular, proved to be a favorite among our four-legged companions, as they reveled in the freedom to run and play.
For those seeking a more extensive adventure, consider taking a walk or driving up the mountain road to Qinlao Village. While we didn’t encounter any other vehicles on the road, it’s advisable to keep your dogs on a leash for safety reasons. Along the way, you’ll encounter paths that meander through the enchanting bamboo groves, adding to the allure of the journey. However, please be aware that the hiking paths intersect the mountain road at various points, so exercise caution during these crossings.

Rainbow Path (彩虹路)

This area is a beautiful tea field on top on a small mountain/hill with amazing views. I assume they call it rainbow path because of the painted rainbow colours on the road and stairs as you approach the viewpoint.
The view from the parking lot is stunning and even more so if you follow the rainbow up the stairs and make your way to another lookout point. This area has a little piano perfect for a picture worthy of Instagram. If you continue past the view point you will get to the tea fields. The lush green tea leaves amongst the mountain backdrop is just gorgeous.
Note: There are chickens in some areas at the top, so if you have a dog that likes to go after chickens like I do, be careful.
This area is completely free and there is no entrance you must go through. Meaning you can bring your dog along for the adventure. We brought 15 dogs of all different sizes with no problems.
, Search 德清县西湖顶生态茶场 in your map and it should lead you to the correct location. it is a very windy and narrow road to the top. You will pass a small dam along the way. We pulled over and walked along the dam just to see the view. From the dam I could see hiking trails that led all the way to the top. So, there is the possibility to hike it instead of drive / walk along the road.
At the top there is a little shop that sells drinks and snacks
DaDouWu Reservoir (莫干山大斗坞水库)
Reviewed by Mel
DaDouWu Reservoir is pretty well known and thus can be fairly crowded depending on when you go. Even with the tourists we’ve never had a problem with our dogs being there and off leash.
There are many ways you can get to the reservoir. You can drive and get dropped off that main entrance (no tickets needed) and follow the road with no cars to the reservoir, or you can hike. This is what we usually do. There are many hiking paths that lead to the reservoir, all varying in difficulty.
Depending on how busy it is at the reservoir you can swim without interruption in the summer. On busier days you can go just past the reservoir (by the bridge) to a smaller body of water that is swimmable.
