Dog- Friendly places to stay in Ningbo

Dog friendly (and foreigner friendly) places to stay in Ningbo

There are many places in Ningbo that are dog friendly. This is a list of places that we have stayed and can vouch for. We will continually update the list as we find awesome dog-friendly hotels.

Wuju Wusu Hostel

Wuju Wusu Hostel is not really a hostel as the name suggests. The rooms are mainly spacious cabins. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The service is very good. The workers don’t speak a lot of English, but they have a translator app, and they will try to communicate with you as best they can. They provide afternoon snacks and tea in the dining area for no extra charge. We sat in the dining area and played boardgames with our dogs with no real issues. The surrounding areas were very nice and right behind the guesthouse there is hike that can be done. The food at the hotel is delicious and they were very accommodating.
There were a few issues that could have been easily avoided had we been given all the information.

Things to note:

1. Upon check-in, we were told there was a dog cleaning fee. That is fine, we expect there to be a fee, however the dog cleaning fee is 150 RMB per dog, per day. To me that is crazy as we were staying 3 nights and I myself had two dogs. That would add an extra 1800 RMB to clean up dog hair….

2. Order dinner early. We asked about ordering dinner and the staff sent us the menu. When we went to order dinner around 5 they said they didn’t have anything available for us. We ended up eating at a nearby restaurant and everyone got a little sick. We did eat at the restaurant the next night, and the food was very good. The staff gave us some pasties and deserts as an apology.

Hengyuan hotel

Hengyuan hotel is a well-known hot spring hotel (hot springs are not dog friendly) and is a great option for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Within the hotel area there is a mini lake and a lot of greenery where the dogs can play.

The dog friendly rooms are located on the first floor and makes taking the dogs out much easier. Some rooms also have a garden area connected to allow the dogs to play outside without leaving the room.

About a 5 minute walk from the hotel there is a street with a Starbucks and many other dog friendly restaurants. If possible, call ahead to let them know you will be bringing a dog. We recommend Chi Nei (池内) which can be found on Dianping. It is a small place but very dog friendly and has great food and delicious ice cream.

Things To Do

        – Dongqian lake is located just outside the hotel. This is a great place for you and your pup to take a nice relaxing stroll along the lake.

     –  Mashan wetland park is fairly close to the hotel and is a great way to spend the say exploring with your pup. The park is free entrance and open 24 hours.
