Life is cool by the pool
Many dogs love swimming and what better time to enjoy the pool than the summer. The problem is that most pools don’t allow dogs. Luckily we live in Shanghai and the pet community is large, so we have a few facilities where we can take our pups to beat the summer heat and enjoy the pool.
We have created a listed of dog friendly pools tested and approved by our furry family members. We will constantly be updating the list as we find and discover new safe places for our pups.
Qingpu District
Sun Island
The pet play area has a doggie swimming pool. The swimming pool area has doggie life jackets available if needed. This area also has a small indoor ball pit the dogs can play in. The ball pit area is inside (so it is heated/ AC). The pool is outside but there is a canopy style cover to keep the sun from beating down on you while you and your furry friends play in the pool.
There is also a large field in the play area. This field is well kept with agility and obstacle courses. There is also a water station for the dogs. They even have a large bowl so the dogs can always have access to drinking water.
All tickets to the pet play area include access to the pool and large field.
Tickets:
Humans -20 RMB per person
Dogs – 120 RMB per dog.
Minhang
Companion Pet Park (玩小伴宠物乐园)
This pool is located in Minhang very close to Loawei Jie (where many dog friendly restaurants are located). The entrance is paid per dog based on their weight. The pool has floaties available for use and there is also a play area next to the pool that is perfect for a game of frisbee.
The pool has a shallow area and a deeper area and lifejackets. There are limited life jackets, so it is better to bring your own if you have one. There is also a changing room for humans as well that way you can go into the pool with your pup.
You book in 2 hour slots and must book in advance for tickets.

Kungfu Pet
Kungfu is not only a great option for boarding but also for a summer swim with your furry friend! The pool costs 129 RMB per dog for 2 hours. This fee gives you access to the pool and the grass area next to the pool. After your 2 hours of fun is up you can use the self grooming station to wash and dry your pups.
Kungfu is a great option if you are looking to beat the heat and go for a furfam filled pool day.
Pudong
Pet Whisperer (汪说喵讲)
Pet Whisperer is located in Pudong and is a great option for a swimming trip. It has a fairly large pool that can hold up to 30 big dogs. There is also a really good bathing and drying area for the dogs after the dogs have their fun in the pool.
The staff are also great and really friendly. There is also a turf section that the dogs can play on after their fun in the pool.
Buddy Dog
Buddy Dog opened a new branch located in Pudong. They have a new outdoor swimming pool that is available to use. The pool is large and clean with 3 different depth levels. It’s perfect for introducing your dog to water for the first time or for more seasoned water dogs.
There are also fully enclosed play areas for your pups to get their zoomies out in between swimming sessions.
Sonile Pet (它岛宠物)
Sonile is located in Pudong and is a good and safe place to take our pups. They have a grass field, sand pit and a pool. Entry fee gets you access to all this are they are all connected. You can se your pup from anywhere in Sonile Pet.
The pool has a ramp for the dogs to go and out, it is an above ground pool, so if your pup is nervous in the water it is better to get in with them. When we went their was a few larger dogs loving the pool, my dog was too busy enjoying the sand to go anywhere near the pool.

Fengxian
Buddy Dog
Buddy Dog is located in Fangxian district and is a great option to take your dog for a swim. They even offer swimming lessons! The pool is indoors, so you don’t have to worry about it being too hot or cold outside as it’s temperature controlled.
Use of the pool costs 150 RMB for the day and includes access to the outdoor play areas for the pups to run and get their roomies out. Swimming lessons cost 220 RMB per session (max 1 hr per session) and is large enough for multiple dogs at one time.
The outdoor area is fully enclosed and has a few agility course obstacles for the pups to play with. Definitely good day trip out of the city with the yard and dog friendly pool.
