Greenland Park has become more and more popular recently
There is a Greenland park nearby Zhujiajiao water town that has become more and more popular recently. It is about 1.2 km away from the water town entrance just opposite Zhujiajiao subway station.
It was previously a popular after dinner walking area for locals. However, more people come from further places such as Shanghai city centre to visit the Greenland with their dogs and enjoy a fun day with many activities.
The Park
This is an open park along the river. You need to cross a wooden bridge to get to the park. Once across it is a paradise for dogs as it is a land full of grass, trees and bushes. Despite No Swimming, No camping and No BBQ signs (all in Chinese) at the grass field, people enjoy doing standup paddle boarding (SUP), swimming, camping and BBQ along the river. In fact there is the local authority government at the river side but no one seems to care what is happening in the park. The security guards even friendly showed the direction to us when we came to look for the park.
There is plenty of space in the grass field for the dogs to run around without leash possibly. It is the freedom they have longed for a long time. It is rare to find dog friendly parks in Shanghai city and the strict laws require dogs to be on leash always when outdoors. I could nearly hear my pups cheering when they jumped out of the car and saw the park. My dog QQ runs very fast and is a good swimmer, so this park is perfect for him because he can run as fast as he can to compete with others.
Also he very much enjoys jumping into the river and fetching balls I throw in the water. People around us liked to watch him swimming fast towards the ball. Those that were on the standup paddle boards and swimming in the river also laughed because QQ was so enthusiastic toward his favorite ball in the water. He was so happy to be here without any fear of cars, bikes, strangers etc. His cheerfulness made us also feel like it was a great day and fabulous place.
Facilities
Washroom/ Bathroom
The park does not have any washrooms or public toilet facilities, but there is one just a few minutes driving distance. It is a far walk especially if you are having an emergency.
Food & Drinks
Thanks to the advanced ‘delivery system’ platforms in this country we ordered food and drinks via Meituan. It arrived quickly and local delivery guys knew the park well. This makes the trip here so easy and simple because you can just bring yourself and the pups. Everything else can be ordered if your phone is set up for payments on the platform.
Location
Set Zhujiajiao Shimin Square or Whenhua Datong (文化大桶) as your destination. You will need to park the car along the river on the side of the road as there are no parking facilities.
In the picture you will see the yellow circle, everything in that circle is the park for the pups to enjoy.

Overview
I am sure my pups will love to go back to this Greenland soon. It is a recommended place for a day trip with your fur babies out of the crowded Shanghai city. This summer is the hottest summer in Shanghai. What can be better than swimming with your fur babies here getting some cool feelings? There is a small river in the park and it is definitely safe to teach your fur babies to swim here. Ah, I forgot they are naturally good swimmers.
At the end, let me remind you to prepare a few extra bags to take away all your rubbish and waste. We need to keep the park clean so we can all enjoy it with our best friends again and again.
