Dogs, dogs, and more dogs
I always get really excited when I hear about a new dog-friendly park in Shanghai. I was recently told about a new one called 合庆郊野公园 (he qing jiao ye gong yuan) out by the airport and hoped for some good weather over the weekend to check it out.
We finally got a beautiful park day and hoped in a huolala and headed down to check it out.
The park is fairly large with different sections and a very large parking lot. Across from the parking lot is a small preview of what the park has to offer. I saw the house-looking building and some beautiful walking paths when I first arrived and knew I was in the right place. I walked around this beautiful, but small section.
I thought that was the whole park, but a nice elderly man directed me to where the park actually begins.
When you arrive walk towards the second exit of the parking lot and then head across the bridge. You will see a small white bridge on the other side of the road, and this is where the park begins. I went on a nice weekend and the park was fairly busy. It is large enough that it was pretty easy to find an area that was empty, where I could let the dogs off-leash and play catch. Within the park there are some greenhouses. When I went they were selling fresh strawberries. In the park, I saw a few large golden retrievers and a lot of pugs and poodles. There are also lots of fields with play areas for kids and nice well-maintained boardwalks.
Park: 合庆郊野公园 (he qing jiao ye gong yuan)
