Your guide on how to renew your Shanghai dog license

How to renew your Shanghai dog license

Renewing  your dog’s license can seem a bit daunting, especially because the initial process is a bit complicated. And even more complicated if you don’t speak Chinese.
Good news, the renewing process is significantly easier than applying for the dog license. Especially of you haven’t moved. When you go to renew all you need yp input are the pictures of your lease, passport, visa, and housing certificates. All the other information is filled in for you.

This year’s license and bio tag are red..

Step 1

Take your dog to a government vet and get them a rabies shot (needs to be done ever year).
I took my dogs to Shenpu and it took less than 10 minutes.

  • bring your immunization card for Shenpu as they need to update it.
  • Bring your vaccination record book

Step 2

  • Search for 麦道 (Mai Dao)
  • Click 我的 (wo de)
  • Click  办证年审 (ban zheng nian shen)
  • Click 去年审 (qu nian shen)
  • Select the correct option depending on if you have moved and changed addresses since your last license.

If did not you move or change address

If you haven’t changed addresses this makes renewing your license very easy and simple. You will not need to fill in any additional information.

You will select your delivery address (not the delivery address can be different than the address on the license). You will have to pay the 15 RMB delivery fee right away. Once the application is approved you will pay the renewal fee (150-500 RMB depending on location and if the dog is spayed/ neutered).
