Taking your Dog to the Shanghai Sculpture Park

Get out of the hustle and bustle of the city for the day.

The Shanghai Sculpture Park is a good escape from the busy city life. You can relax, go for a swim and best of all you can take your pooch with you.
We decided to make a trip of it and spend the night in Songjiang. The area surrounding the park is nice. There are a fair amount of decent local parks near the sculpture park.
We took a huolala to Songjiang, it was about an hour drive, and spent the rest of the day walking around the city and exploring. It was a nice and relaxing day spent exploring the parks nearby.

Shanghai Sculpture Park

The Shanghai Sculpture park is very large and very well kept. Buying tickets is fairly easy. We had to scan the code and buy the tickets through the mini program. You need to buy a ticket for yourself and a dog ticket. Tickets were 120rmb per person and 20rmb per dog. When we started toward the entrance we were asked to show a dog license for each dog.  I know some people who did not have to show their dog license, but to be on the safe side make sure to bring a dog license with you.
Once inside the park, there are signs saying keep your dog on a leash. In the areas that were not busy, we took our dogs off-leash so they could run around. They loved playing with some of the other dogs and running in the fields.

There are a lot of fountains and even a small manmade beach inside. Most of our dogs loved playing in the sand, but only a few decided to go for a swim. A few people were swimming in the water. We didn’t plan to go swimming, so we only went in up to our knees.
The water wasn’t anything like Sanya water, more like the bund water, but it was nice to cool off on a hot day.

There are a few restaurants in the park, but only two were open the day we went. One was indoors with A/C and the other one was more like a market shop with outdoor picnic seating near the beach area. Both areas were dog friendly. The indoor restaurant was very welcoming to us and our dogs.

Overall, the Shanghai Sculpture Park is a good day trip. I would recommend not going on such a hot day. We had to constantly stop for water breaks and rest in the shade.
