Tongren is incredibly dog friendly

Tongren is a beautiful little town and is most famously known for Fangjingshan (梵净山). The mountain itself is shaped like a thumb and is not dog friendly, but almost everything else was.
Guesthouse
This spot is beautiful, and the air is so clean. We stayed at a guesthouse near the mountain and went on a day hike with the dogs. Best of all there was a creek that the dogs liked paddling through just behind the guesthouse. The creek went through the village. We walked through the village and would hop in in the creek to cool down. We even bought local grapes and drinks and cooled them off in the river.
The guesthouse was surrounded by picturesque mountains and luscious rice fields. The dogs loved bouncing and running around in the rice fields. They did get filthy from the fields, but we were able to wash them in the creek.
The guesthouse was in a quiet village meaning there were very few cars and we could have our dogs off leash the majority of the time. The guesthouse owner was very welcoming to us and our dogs. We actually stayed at this guesthouse twice on our summer road trip because the scenery was so beautiful and the town was so welcoming.
Hiking/ Walking paths

About a five minute drive from Fangjingshan (梵净山) there are a few shops and restaurants. Just off to the side of the restaurants there is a pagoda that I wanted to check out. To our pleasant surprise the pagoda was just outside a small village and there was a map of many local walking paths. We did a few of these walking paths with our dogs. They were able to be off leash with no problems. The views were great, and it was a great way to spend the day.
If your dog is prone to chasing chickens keep an eye on them. There were a lot of free range chickens everywhere and my dog kept chasing them (he loves to hunt any type of bird).
Overall, Tongren is a great town for both you and your furry friends. It is a scenic town with lush greenery and mountain views everywhere you look. For the most part the town is completely dog friendly. We had no problems taking our dogs into small restaurants and having our dogs off leash in the village or on the walking/hiking paths. People seemed very comfortable with our dogs.
