Guide on how to replace your lost Shanghai dog license

Step by step guide how to replace a lost dog license in Shanghai

When you apply for a dog license you will receive a card, this is the actual dog license. You will also receive a bio tag that has a QR code on it. This tag is just as important and according to the regulations your dog must be wearing it whenever they are outside.
I have actually been fined for my dog not wearing it, and we were just in my compound!

Most dogs wear the biotag on their harness and with this there is a high change that at some point or another your tag will get lost. If this happens, don’t worry it is fairly easy to order a replacement.

Step 1

  • Search for 麦道 (Mai Dao) on WeChat. If you registered your dog through this app your dog will already be on file making it easier to order a replacement.
  • Go into services and select  麦道活动 (mai doa Huo dong)

Step 2

  • You will then be takin to a page with options to buy a lot of different types of dog related stuff. Scroll down until you see the picture of the dog license. Click the picture and you will be taken to the page where you can order a replacement. Here you can order a new dog license card, bio tag and even those little plastic straps that keep the biotag in place.
