The mountains are calling and I must go
WuYue Ancient Path
WuYue Ancient path is a perfect place to go hiking with your pup! It is relatively quiet and the hike itself is filled with greenery and the sound of running streams.
The path itself runs from Ningguo, Anhui to Lin’an Zhejiang. Most people tend to start in Anhui and end in Zhejiang because your ending destination will be the Qiangingtang Reservoir.
The Path
We went from Lin’an to Ningguo. The path was mostly downhill this way. It was very relaxing with the beautiful greenery. The dogs absolutely loved being off leash and roaming around. The walk was very quiet, we only saw 2 other people on the path and they actually thought it was great we brought the dogs with us and stopped to take pictures of them. We brought 5 dogs with us, so I suppose for most people that is a lot of dogs together.
There were some areas where the stream passed the path and the dogs were able to wade in the water or get a quick refreshing drink.
The path is very well kept and even our small dogs did not have a problem at any point along the hike.
Qianqingtang Reservior
This section is located in Lin’an, Zhejiang. I have been twice and both times were very different. The amount of water depends on the rain, during my most frequent visit the reservoir was fairly empty. This was actually great as the dogs had more open space to run and play.
My foster dog, Mona, was absolutely loving it and decided she wanted to roll around in everything.
There is an additional hike in this area. The hike leads to the top of a small mountain so you can have a full view of the reservoir.
Notes:
1. There are very little garbage cans and the ones that are available are overflowing. Be prepared to take your garbage back with you so we can keep the path and reservoir clean.
2. Drones are not allowed at the reservoir. There are many signs in both English and Chinese. We believe there is a military base very close by as we saw many people in military uniforms and passed a many gated areas while hiking.
Where we stayed
We stayed (2 people and 5 dogs) in Lin’an about 15 minutes away from the start of the hike. Our hotel was super chill about the dogs. The hotel itself was a self check in style of hotel. After booking we were given the entrance and room codes.
The rooms were clean and big, but very cold. The beds were comfortable with great duvets. The best part were the heated toilet seats.
We booked the hotel because it looked like it had a nice yard and balcony. Unfortunately the balcony was delapatated and they installed a railing to keep you off it. The yard was also was very small.
Book on CTrip
We contacted some other hotels in the area and most seemed okay with our dogs. So you can definitely find more suitable hotels in the area.
